WHAT IS HAIR TRANSPLANTATION?

Hair loss is one of the most common cosmetic problems encountered today. Although it is thought to be specific to men, it is a problem faced by women from time to time. Shedding between 50 and 100 hair strands on a daily basis is normal. If there is a spillage in numbers above this, a specialist should be consulted. Although hair loss can be reduced or prevented with various hair treatments such as hair laser and PRP, hair transplantation operation is performed as a permanent solution for people with extensive hair loss.

Hair transplantation is a natural and permanent solution to the problem of thinning and baldness caused by hair loss. With the hair transplant operation, hair follicles that are genetically resistant to shedding are collected from the nape of the patient and transplanted into the channels opened in the areas where baldness or thinning occurs. Hair transplant operation is a microsurgical surgery performed under local anesthesia. For this reason, it should be done in a hospital environment and in the presence of an anesthesiologist.

BASIC STAGES OF HAIR TRANSPLANTATION

Hair transplant operation is performed in three basic stages.

1. Collection of Hair Roots:

After the donor area is prepared for the procedure, the hair follicles are collected one by one with the FUE motor. In the meantime, it is very important that the roots are not damaged. Each of these roots, called grafts, contains an average of 2-3 hairs.

2. Opening Channels:

Opening the channels in the right size and depth according to the area in which they are located affects the rate of hair growth. Care should be taken to open a channel suitable for the size and length of the hair follicle to be transplanted. The angle of the channel should also be adjusted well to obtain the most natural view.

3. Planting Roots in Opened Canals:

In the last stage, the roots collected are placed in the opened canals one by one at an angle of 40-45 degrees and the hair transplantation operation is completed.

The Most Current Hair Transplant Technique: FUE Method

The most up-to-date technology in hair transplantation is the FUE technique, which is a micro surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia where the roots are collected with the help of a micro motor. This technique is the basis for all hair transplant methods.

The basic steps are the same in all hair transplant techniques. Roots are removed, channels are opened and the roots taken are planted in these channels. The differences that distinguish hair transplantation methods from each other are caused by the device used when the roots are taken, the medical devices used while the canals are opened and during the transplantation, and these differences lead to the different naming of hair transplantation techniques.

TECHNIQUES USED IN HAIR TRANSPLANTATION

Today, the following hair transplant methods are successfully applied. Each method is specially selected according to the needs and demands of the patient. The common opinion of the doctor and the patient about which method to apply is effective.

1. Robotic Hair Surgery

In the robotic hair transplant method, hair follicles are collected by the hair transplant robot. After the canals are opened with the hair transplant robot, the collected roots are transplanted manually.

2. Sapphire FUE Hair Transplantation

In the sapphire FUE hair transplant method, a special sapphire-tipped pen is used instead of metal slit in the channel opening phase. What makes the method different are these sapphire tips that allow smaller micro channels to be opened, thus accelerating the healing process and reducing scabbing.

3. DHI Hair Transplant (Unshaved)

In the DHI hair transplantation method, which is also called direct hair transplantation, using a medical pen named choi, the channel opening and transplantation are performed simultaneously. Since the hair follicles to be transplanted will remain outside for a shorter time, the grafts are more likely to remain healthy.

4. Normal FUE Hair Transplant

In the FUE hair transplant method, hair follicles that are collected and separated using a micromotor are transplanted into manually opened channels.

HAIR TRANSPLANT OPERATION AND AFTER PROCESS

  • How many hours does the hair transplant operation take and is it comfortable?

The operation takes 6-7 hours on average. During the operation, general anesthesia is definitely not applied and the patient is not anesthetized. The patient who is applied local anesthesia or sedation takes the procedure by chatting.

  • Is pain or pain felt during the hair transplant operation?

Since hair transplantation is performed under local anesthesia, the pain or pain sensation is minimal. Another method used in addition to local anesthesia is sedation. With the sedation hair transplant, we are able to offer a dream-like hair transplant experience to our patients with high anxiety levels who are quickly excited.

  • How many days should I spare for the hair transplant operation?

For the hair transplant operation, it will be sufficient for the patient to allocate 2 days, considering the pre and post processes. In this 2-day period;
Day 1 (Transplantion):
Hair transplantation and PRP treatment procedures are completed in our hospital.
Day 2 (Control and No Washing Solution Application):
Our patient is rehoused in our hospital and the roots are checked for any damage, bleeding or infection. Special care solution in spray form is applied to the area where hair transplantation is performed by Esteworld’s specialist doctors and experienced team. A brand new and comfortable recovery period is offered with a hair transplant without washing.
Post-Day 2 Process:
The spray solution with moisturizing, germicidal and wound healing properties is applied with very light touches by spraying 10-15 times every 3 hours for 6-7 days after hair transplantation. 9-10 days after the hair transplant, the scalp almost completely heals and sheds.
